The IBM 3112 Page Printer is a 12 page-per-minute (PPM) printer providing a print solution for up to
four simultaneous user groups: IBM Host (AS/400* or System/370*, System/390*, direct LAN Attach (Token-ring or Ethernet), ASCII PC Parallel attached workstations, and ASCII Serial RS-232/422
attached workstations. All 3112 Page Printers include a standard SCS data stream coaxial or twinaxial
interface for attachment to IBM host systems. IPDS data stream capability is optional. Also, all 3112
printers include a standard PC Parallel interface, Serial RS-232/422 interface, and a slot for Internal Network Adapters.
Internal processing performance increase for PCL applications Multiple copy collation in the printer
Separator sheets between jobs, copies, or pages Configurable input buffers Automated network installation of drivers and utilities via MarkVision
The IBM 3112 Model 001 is the follow-on/replacement product for the successful IBM 3912 Page Printers. The new Page
Printer offers numerous improvements to the appearance, hardware printing mechanism, internal firmware-code, and
application drivers. The end-user benefits of these improvements include: improved print quality resulting from new print
cartridges that use Diamond Fine** toner and print resolutions up to 1200 dpi for PCL and PostScript
applications (300 and 600 dpi are also available); enhanced paper handling including label processing,
direct attach duplex paper feeder and cableless second paper drawers; and state of the art network management tools for Novell users and Local Area Network (LAN) administrators (MarkVision**).
Personal Printer Data Stream (PPDS) support is also provided, enabling the IBM 3112 Page Printer to
generally support software applications that operate with PPDS. In addition, the 3112 will have the
following expanded host printing capabilities: expanded printable area, enhanced IPDS resident font
support including an optional 3812/3816 font subset, performance enhancements, auto-paper handling sensing.
Highlights Enhanced Network connectivity supporting up to one INA, in addition to the coaxial or twinaxial
interface, with up to four simultaneous host connections Application resource storage utilizing Flash Memory or 40MB Hard disk drive options (PCL and PostScript Only)
Improved paper handling including label processing Improved paper handling features: duplex option - easy snap on eliminating cable connection, paper
trays have visual paper low indicators, second drawer - is direct attach eliminating cable connection.
Memory enhancements including maximum memory capacity of 64 MB (PCL and PostScript Only)
Improved print quality including up to 1200 pel print resolution (PCL and PostScript Only for 600 and 1200 pel)
Industry standard data stream support: Enhanced PCL5**, PostScript** level 2 Toner-Saver Mode, providing a low cost printing alternative
Automatic port switching and data stream sensing MarkVision: state of the art network management tool for Novell users and LAN administrators
Two IPDS features: IPDS with Standard 4028/3912/3916 Fonts IPDS with 3812/3816 Font Subset
Description A 4 x 20 LCD operator panel display uses simple terminology to lead the user through the available
menus. The flash memory and disk options allow the user to download fonts that remain in the printer as long as the option is installed.
The 3112 comes standard with the following: 12 PPM Laser Printer
