Your customers are in the business of creating dynamic, impactful communications. They expect you
to turn around their creations quickly, to deliver the highest quality direct mail pieces and to stay within their tight budget - no matter how complex the design or how exotic the stock. The IBM® InfoprintTM
4000 Direct Mail Printer can handle a broad range of direct mail print jobs with ease, providing you with a solution that's flexible, reliable and cost-effective.
The IBM Infoprint 4000 Direct Mail Printer offers high-speed, high-volume, continuous-forms printing with a 17-inch-wide print line. Based on the proven Advanced Function PresentationTM (AFPTM)
technology, the IBM Infoprint 4000 Direct Mail Printer provides all-points-addressable printing at lightning speeds.
Flexible Paper Handling
The direct mail environment dictates flexibility in a wide range of paper media - from heavier stocks and
forms (including forms sizes up to 18" x 17" standard and 18" x 28" using optional features) to less hefty paper weights. With enhanced operator controls, the IBM Infoprint 4000 Direct Mail Printer puts
you in complete control of the printing operation, enabling variable forms tension and fusing temperature control for improved paper path reliability. An optional "urge" unit assists in pulling
pre-spliced stacks of paper into the printer's paper path to achieve operational efficiency.
The Quality Your Customers Demand
Delivering high-quality direct mail pieces to your customers is paramount. IBM's exclusive Print Quality Enhancement feature, found in the Infoprint 4000 Direct Mail Printer, provides darker black fill, smoother
edges and boldness control to enhance the overall projected image of every document produced in your shop.
Leading-Edge Controller
The Advanced Function Common Control UnitTM (AFCCUTM), based on IBM's proven RISC/6000® technology, offers additional attachment flexibility and improves performance for even the most
complex jobs. Compressed images, graphics, outline fonts and printer-generated bar codes can be processed and rendered at very high speeds and at quality levels that your discerning customers expect.
Advanced Function Presentation
Taking full advantage of IBM's AFP software, the Infoprint 4000 Direct Mail Printer provides enhanced printing capabilities that include:
- Printing up to four logical pages on one physical page
- Printing vector graphics, compressed images and text anywhere on the page
- WYSIWYG viewing of the document with AFP Workbench
Pre- and Post-Processing Capabilities
The pre- and post-processing interfaces provide added input and output capabilities beyond the
standard input source and output stacker. By adding roll-feed input and automated output options, long statement runs can be printed with little operator intervention. Depending on the size, one roll of paper
can last up to six hours, ideal for a "lights out" environment.
Total Solutions
To meet the needs of your direct mail print production business, the IBM Printing Systems Division has
designed solutions that complement the Infoprint 4000 Direct Mail Printer, enhancing the products and services you deliver to your customers. The IBM Infoprint Hi-Lite Color post processor enables you to
selectively highlight information as well as print variable data in color to emphasize key areas of documents. With the Infoprint Hi-Lite Color, you can place up to three highlight colors anywhere on a
page; the customer can choose from 14 standard colors or specify custom colors to match their corporate identity.
To improve the manageability and efficiency of the print/mail process, IBM has created the Large Mailing Operations (LMO) solution, a service offering that allows you to produce mailings with
outstanding quality and high productivity. By employing the LMO solution, throughput on equipment is optimized, mailing errors are minimized and the cost per finished piece is reduced.
