Highlights
The IBM® Network Printer 12 is designed for business professionals who demand high performance, excellent 600 dots-per-inch print quality and high reliability for personal or small workgroup environments. Compact and robust, the IBM Network Printer 12 features one of the smallest footprints in its class. Total connectivity assures quick and easy installation to LAN and host environments. Shared Environments Today's environments require support of multiple printer data streams. The IBM Network Printer 12 supports PCL5e and, optionally, Adobe**, PostScript** Level 2, and IBM's traditional AFPTM/IPDSTM as well as SCS. Native support of all these data streams allows for consolidation of multiple platform, application-specific printers to one IBM Network Printer 12. The IBM Network Printer 12 supports all standard network interfaces. Ethernet, Token-Ring, Coaxial or Twainaxial are optional. The IBM Network Printer 12 automatically switches among printer data streams, interfaces and networks. With installation of IBM's Network Printer Manager (NPM) utility, system administrators can easily install, configure, monitor, and manage the Network Printer 12 from remote locations. The NPM utility was developed using the industry standard SNMP Printer MIB ensuring future migration support and compatibility. Forms Flexibility User applications require forms flexibility. The IBM Network Printer 12 supports paper sizes ranging from A6 (4.13"x 5.83") to legal (8.5" x 14") sizes. Additional sizes supported include letter, A4, A5, B5, statement, and executive. This printer can also print on card stock, envelopes, transparencies, labels, and recycled paper. The IBM Network Printer 12 comes standard with two media input sources. It has a maximum input of 830 sheets with an optional input drawer. Adding the duplex option for two-sided printing is quick and easy. The standard top exit area holds up to 250 sheets and the rear output tray can hold up to 80 sheets. The rear media exit can provide a straight paper path when using the auxiliary tray as the input source. A straight paper path optimizes paper feeding reliability for non-standard media. High Performance The printer's ability to maintain rated speed while switching between multiple connections and data streams is critical. The wealth of communication sharing options available on the IBM Network Printer 12 make this possible. The printer uses a combination of I/O buffering, memory management, caching of common routines and permanently stored print resources in the flash memory (2MB or 4MB) or hard drive options. An additional number of microcode features keeps the printer running at the highest possible efficiency. First-rate print quality The IBM Network Printer 12 features excellent 600 dpi print quality with TrueRes edge-smoothing technology. Toner Savings Technology can nearly double the toner cartridge yield by reducing the amount of toner placed on the printed page, which provides significant supplies cost savings while maintaining usable output quality.
