Mid-sized, ideal for a variety of printing applications
Highlights
- High-quality, 600-dpi duplex printing
- Scalable, multiple-function printing capabilities
- Optional finisher can staple, insert, saddle stitch and z-fold
- Supports a variety of paper, including non-standard sizes
- Complete, integrated software and hardware solution
- A critical component of meeting deadlines and satisfying customers is a reliable, feature-rich
printing system. Your business demands a functional, cost-effective solution that delivers quality output and offers enough flexibility to meet dynamic printing requirements.
The IBM® Infoprint® 60 is designed to fit two distinct markets: the traditional corporate market and the fast-emerging print-on-demand market.
The IBM Infoprint 60 is an intermediate speed, highly reliable cut-sheet laser printer that supports 240, 300 and 600-dots-per-inch (dpi) input data streams for a variety of applications. The printer combines
electrophotographic print technology with the powerful capabilities of the Advanced Function Common Control UnitTM (AFCCUTM ) and Advanced Function PresentationTM (AFPTM ) software and a
multifunction finisher option to deliver high-quality, on-demand output.
The Infoprint 60 prints on a wide variety of paper sizes, including non-standard sizes. The printer
integrates seamlessly into existing computing environments, enabling maximum productivity. At the same time, its high-speed, high-quality output makes it an extremely cost-effective solution for on-demand printing.
New Standard in Low-Cost Printing
The IBM Infoprint 60 is a 600-dpi printer that produces sharp, clear printed output at speeds of up to 60
impressions per minute (ipm), depending on the application, and handles production volumes of up to 750,000 impressions per month. The printer's flexible application support allows users to run existing
240- or 300-dpi applications or use 600-dpi for higher resolution applications.
The IBM Infoprint 60 is supported from any of the IBM platforms: Application System/400® (AS/400®),
Personal System/2® (PS/2®), RISC System/6000® (RS/6000®) and large hosts. This flexibility combined with its speed, quality and capacity makes the IBM Infoprint 60 an ideal printer to meet both
production and departmental printing requirements.
Powerful Print-On-Demand Capability
The fast-turnaround, print-on-demand market requires efficient management of customers' files.
Therefore, IBM has designed a complete software and hardware solution, called Infoprint Manager, that electronically manages and tracks print jobs submitted from desktop computers.
Infoprint Manager includes easy-to-operate applications that track, store and print diverse files. These applications are centered around a powerful print server with an Adobe® PostScript® Level 2 Raster
Image Processor (RIP) that ensures optimal processing of desktop graphics print files in the Infoprint server.
IBM's approach to printing PostScript files provides the richness of the PostScript page description
language, as well as the benefits of IBM's extensive experience in printing mission-critical applications with AFP.
Flexible Printing for Multiple Environments
For both print-on-demand and production print environments, the IBM Infoprint 60 includes many features designed for intermediate- to high-volume printing. Enhanced printing capabilities include:
- 240-, 300- or 600-dpi application support
- Multiple pages of data on one physical page
- Prints vector graphics, compressed images and text anywhere on the page
Prints with multiple character sets or fonts
- Application flexibility, including electronic forms and bar codes
- Ability to feed and print on notebook divider tabs as well as other non-standard paper sizes
- Other data streams supported through the AFP and Infoprint Server architecture of IBM Print
Services FacilityTM (PSFTM ) for OS/2® or Print Services Facility for AIX®, including Adobe PostScript and Windows® ASCII through the AFP Windows driver
- Flexible paper-handling capabilities provided by an optional, high-capacity stacker that holds up
to 3000 sheets of paper and features a convenience stapler capable of stapling up to 50 sheets of paper
The Infoprint 60 also features an optional, host-controlled finisher that provides stapling, page insertion,
saddle stitching and z-folding capabilities for professional-looking booklets, covers, marketing materials and newsletters.
Enhanced Productivity
IBM's rich device support provides industry-leading and unique printer management functions to ensure document and data integrity. These functions include system management of resources such as fonts,
images and electronic forms, exceptional error recovery and accurate accounting information. These unique capabilities, in conjunction with the IBM Infoprint 60's multi-resolution support, powerful control
unit and finishing capabilities increase productivity.
Attachment Flexibility
The IBM Infoprint 60 attaches easily to IBM S/370TM , S/390®, AS/400, PS/2 or RS/6000 systems
using S/370 parallel channel, SNA Token-Ring, TCP/IP Token-Ring or TCP/IP Ethernet. The appropriate print driver is required depending on environment: PSF/MVSTM , PSF for OS/400®, PSF for OS/2, PSF
for AIX or Infoprint Manager.
